I turn down all the lights in terse anticipation,
My heart beats faster, but assure you, I am fine,
I know soon will come the time when I am satisfied,
A melodious voice rises, sending chills down my spine.

A 40's style, big-band era, sultry crooner of today,
She toys with the notes my heart longs to sing,
Megan Mullally, a rare rose in a garden of thorns,
Your words are the balm for the thorns viscious sting.

Tell me, are you an angel here to share God's voice?
For I feel at peace anytime music flows from your lips,
It is as if your melodies are composed of pure fire,
With which the flame of peace and hope will be lit.

If it is so, and you are not the angel it would seem you are,
And are merely mortal, bearing the contents of humanity,
Then we were entreated with a blessed gift to treasure,
An angel made human, whose voice emits God's purity.
