Humble Beginnings... Humble Winnings

Actress Megan Mullally was born in Los Angeles on November 12, 1958, to her father, Carter Mullally Jr., was an actor who was a contract player with Paramount Pictures during the 1950s, and her mother Martha. In 1965, with Carter's career on the wane, Mullally's parents pulled up roots and moved to Oklahoma City, OK, where her family quickly managed to become wealthy raising livestock. Megan's father is the person she sites as her inspiration. He was always cutting up and being goofy around the house. With this influence playing on her subconcious, she developed a passionate interest in music and especially dance. By the time Megan got to high school, she'd performed as a featured soloist with the Ballet Oklahoma troupe in Oklahoma City, and during summer vacations she studied with George Balanchine's School of American Ballet in New York City. Her interest in classical dance eventually grew into a desire to act, and while attending Northwestern University, she began appearing in student theater productions. After graduating, Mullally moved to Chicago, where she immersed herself in the city's rich and varied local theater scene. In 1983, she won her first film role, playing a hooker in Risky Business, and in 1986 she relocated to Los Angeles after being cast on a television series, The Ellen Burstyn Show. However, the series proved short-lived, and Mullally was soon busying herself with guest spots on a number of different shows such as Wings, China Beach, Seinfeld, Frasier, Mad About You, Caroline in the City, Dear John and Just Shoot Me, as well as Almost Grown. and many many more. Mullally continued to work in the theater, and in 1994 fulfilled a longtime dream when she scored a role in the Broadway revival of Grease as Marty. The next year, she earned a high-profile role in another noted Broadway musical, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (playing opposite Matthew Broderick), while continuing to work in television projects. Mullally had decided never to do television again when she auditioned for Will & Grace. That is when she was cast as Karen Walker, a self-centered socialite who decides to work for her friend Grace Adler's designing firm on the popular television series Will and Grace. She originally auditioned for the role of Grace, but the casting directors were not thrilled, when she came back to audition for Karen(the casting people didn't remember her!) she made up the now infamous "Betty-Boop-Goes-Boom" high-pitched voice, shifted into high-gear, and blew them away, walking away with the part firmly in hand. At first, the show didn't do so well, but after a rocky start, the sit-com became a major ratings success. Will and Grace catapulted Mullally into the spotlight, and she won an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe, a SAG award, and an American Comedy Award for her work on the show. When not busy with Will and Grace, Mullally continues to pursue other projects, playing featured roles in the films Everything Put Together, Monkeybone, Queens Logic, Stealing Harvard and starring in a one-woman musical, Sweetheart, in which she shows off her talents as a singer. She also appeared in Paul Mazursky’s television movie Winchell, portraying the wife of famed journalist Walter Winchell (Stanley Tucci).  More recently, she starred in the movie The Pact. She released one album of music from the show(which she produced herself), and two albums (Sweetheart Break-in and Big As A Berry) with her band The Supreme Music Program. In her spare time, Mullally loves to garden and tend to her Los Angeles home of many years. She also loves music and is an avid reader. She is also a very prominent figure in the attempt to raise funding for the advancement of AIDS research. On September 20, 2003, she married her fiance-- Boyfriend of 3-years, Nick Offerman.

Don't know how you couldn't know about Megan, but hey, now you do! The song is her singing It Never Was You... Enjoy!
